春韵Spring Melody (peonies)

A small painting on card. A peony grows on a slant from the lower left, its stems ochre-green, upright and open. Three or four pink flowers with thin petals are washed in lightly without outline, the rouge deepening toward their hearts around dots of yellow, and several buds are about to open. At the right a corner of rock is written in dark ink, dotted with green moss. The leaves mix blue-green and ink in free strokes, a strong note against the soft colour of the flowers.

The title at the upper right is read for now as “Spring Melody” (the first character is uncertain): the gentle grace of peonies opening in spring.

此为卡纸小品。牡丹一株自左下斜生向上，枝干赭绿，挺拔舒展；粉红花朵三四，花瓣轻薄，以没骨淡染，花心胭脂渐深，黄蕊点点，另有花苞数枚含苞待放。右侧湖石一角，以浓墨写出，石绿苔点跳跃其上。叶片青绿与墨色相间，用笔放逸，与淡雅的花色一浓一淡，清新可人。

右上题“□韵”，首字暂读作“春”。粉红牡丹淡雅柔美，写春日花开之韵致。
