Privacy

This site and the garden count visits so I can see what people read. They do it without cookies or anything that identifies you.

What is counted

When a page opens, a small script on runtianwu.com and garden.runtianwu.com sends the address of the page, the site that linked to it (its address without any query), the browser’s language, the width of the window, and whether the page is shown light or dark. While you read it notes how long the page was in view, how far you scrolled, and simple actions on the site itself: the filters and the search box (the words searched for and how many results there were), the poem language switch, links followed to other sites, and what is tapped in the garden.

The server adds your country and region, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer) and the browser’s name, worked out from the request and kept only in that coarse form.

What is not kept

  • No cookies, no local storage identifiers, no fingerprinting, and no third-party scripts or services.
  • No IP addresses are stored. To count each visitor once a day, the server mixes the address and the browser name with a random value that is replaced every day and deleted two days later; only a short scrambled result is kept, so the same person cannot be followed from one day to the next or across sites.
  • Nothing is sold or shared. The numbers are visible only to me, in the site’s dashboard.

How long

The records are kept, together with daily totals (for example, “40 visitors read this poem on 3 May”). They hold no IP addresses or identifiers, and the daily scrambling value is deleted, so a record cannot be traced back to a person.

Opting out

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, nothing is sent at all. Blocking JavaScript also turns it off; the site works the same without it.
