洁玉Pure Jade

White peonies in two groups: two or three heads at the upper right, and below, a large bloom on the left with smaller flowers reaching out to the right. The petals are shaded in pale ink and green with their edges left white, curling layer over layer, clean and quiet, around bright yellow hearts touched with mineral green. The leaves are laid in with a large brush in rich dark ink, dotted with mineral green, and the play of black and white makes the flowers seem whiter still. The old stems are drawn in dry, dark ink, gnarled at every joint, with a few red buds below. At the lower right sits a rock washed in ochre and dotted with dark moss and green.

The title at the upper left, Pure Jade, dated winter of 2025, likens the white peony to flawless jade: praise for its clean whiteness, and for a character just as pure.

此幅写白牡丹。花分上下两组，上组二三朵居右上，下组大朵居左，旁有小花数朵向右舒展；瓣以淡墨淡绿分染，边缘留白，层层翻卷，素洁清雅，花心明黄，点以石绿。叶以浓墨大笔写出，墨色苍润，叶面点缀石绿，黑白相生，愈衬花之莹白。老干以焦墨写之，枝节虬曲，下有红苞数点。右下坡石一方，赭石晕染，浓墨点苔，石绿相间。

左上题“洁玉”。白牡丹色如美玉，洁净无瑕，以玉喻花，赞其清白高洁，亦寓品格之贞纯。
