百合Lilies

A fabric picture on a white paper ground. Two lilies, one pink and one orange, face each other across the sheet. The pink flower’s petals pass from rose to white and curl back as they open, lightly padded so they look soft and alive, and fine white stamens with magenta tips spring from the center; green buds wait unopened on the stem. The orange lily gathers its petals in layers, their tips touched with pale yellow, around stamens of yellow and white. The long leaves are cut from dyed green cloth that shades from fresh green to a yellowish brown, much like the boneless wash of a painted leaf, and they cross and sweep in long curves. A square seal is stamped at the lower left and an oval one at the upper right.

The lily, baihe, suggests “a hundred years of harmony” and “all things as one wishes.” The picture has no title; this one describes it.

此为布艺贴画，白纸为地。百合两株，一粉一橙，左右相望。左株花瓣自粉红渐变为白，反卷舒展，内衬薄棉，柔润如生；花心伸出白丝花蕊，蕊头点作紫红；枝间花苞青绿，含而未放。右株橙色花瓣层层攒聚，瓣尖略带鹅黄，蕊作黄白。长叶以染色绿布剪成，叶色由嫩绿过渡至黄褐，颇得没骨晕染之致，穿插交叠，修长飘逸。左下钤方印，右上钤椭圆闲章。

百合寓百年好合、百事合意。此作未题画名，题目依画意拟定。
