About the painting 赏析
A painted object. The vessel is a white oval basin; the picture is painted on its floor, and the plain rim frames it like a natural oval mount. On it are two peonies, crimson above and peach below, with golden stamens, dabbed in without outline among dark green leaves, a few strokes of a bamboo fence behind them and a small insect, a bee or butterfly, flying in at the left.
The basin has no title; this one describes the picture. The peony, flower of wealth, brings good fortune to the house.
