Painted Basin: Magpie, Bamboo and Rock

A painted object. The vessel is a white oval basin; the picture is painted on its floor, and the plain rim frames it like a natural oval mount. On it stands a garden rock washed in yellow ochre, a magpie with a black back and white belly perched on it, head raised to look into the distance, with stems of fresh green bamboo bending beside it, a single red flower below and the ground washed flat in pale yellow, bright and warm.

The basin has no title; this one describes the picture. The magpie brings good news and bamboo brings peace.
