五福图Painted Basin: Five Blessings

A painted object. The vessel is a white oval basin; the picture is painted on its floor, and the plain rim frames it like a natural oval mount. On it hangs a gourd vine, its leaves in wet dark and pale ink, with several round orange gourds hanging below, tendrils curling in ink lines and small red flowers among them. The title “Five Blessings” is written in a column at the left, with two seals.

The gourd, hulu, sounds like fulu, fortune and rank; five gourds make the five blessings.

此为彩绘器物。器形为白色椭圆盆，画面绘于盆底，四周盆沿留白，如一方天然的椭圆画框。盆底绘葫芦藤一架，叶以浓淡墨写出，墨色淋漓；橙黄葫芦数枚垂挂藤下，圆润饱满；卷须以墨线盘旋，红花小朵点缀其间。左侧竖题“五福图”，钤印两方。

葫芦谐“福禄”，五枚即五福，寓福寿安康、吉祥满堂。
