草书四字扇面Four Characters in Cursive Script (calligraphy fan)

A calligraphy fan. Four large characters in cursive script run from right to left, the first two swift and dancing, the last two a little more composed. The first leaps from dot to dot and ends in a long, trailing stroke, its turns joined by hair-fine threads of ink; the second coils down in three looping turns without lifting the brush; the third balances its two halves around a firm vertical; the fourth sets a heavy left side against a long slanting stroke.

The signature “Li Jumei” and a square seal stand at lower left, with an oblong seal at the right. The characters vary in size and the ink is rich and full; written fast, they still keep their order along the fan’s curve.

此为书法扇面。自右至左草书大字四个，前二字笔势飞动，后二字稍见收敛。首字点画跳宕，末笔长曳，转折处游丝牵连；次字三折回环，层层旋转而下，气脉不断；第三字左右呼应，竖画挺拔；末字左旁浓重，右部长竖斜贯而下。左下署“李菊梅”，钤方印一枚，右侧另钤长方印一枚。

通篇大小错落，墨色饱满，行笔迅疾而不失法度。扇面上宽下窄，四字随弧势斜列，疏密得宜，动静相生。
