春夏秋冬四条屏The Four Seasons: A Set of Four Panels

A set of four hanging panels, one for each season, each with a bird and its flowers and a line of verse in the painter’s hand. Spring: pink blossom above, where a bird bends to preen, and below, crimson and pink peonies, full-headed. Summer: trumpet creeper climbing down with orange-red, horn-shaped flowers, a small bird looking back among the branches and pink flowers hanging lower down. Autumn: red leaves flaring vermilion, a red bird on a branch, and below, pink-white chrysanthemums with thread-like petals. Winter: red plum slanting across with small open flowers, a stand of bamboo below and among it a white-headed, brown-backed bird waiting for spring. The four share one hand and one bright palette, the turning of the year told in flowers and birds.

Each panel is dated autumn of the yisi year (2025), painted beside West Lake in Hangzhou. Spring flowers, summer vines, autumn leaves and winter plum, each in its season: together the whole year, and a wish for peace in every season.

此为四条屏，春、夏、秋、冬各一幅，每屏皆一鸟一花，自题四季诗句。春屏：上方粉花数朵，栖禽一只俯首梳羽，下方牡丹朱粉相映，花头丰盈；夏屏：凌霄攀援而下，花色橙红如喇叭，枝间小鸟回首，下方粉花成串；秋屏：红叶翻飞，朱红灼灼，枝上红鸟一只，下方粉白菊花丝瓣舒卷；冬屏：红梅横斜，花开点点，其下修竹数竿，竹间栖禽白首褐背，静候春回。四屏笔墨统一，设色明丽，以花鸟写四时流转。

四屏均署乙巳年秋月作于杭州西子湖畔。春花、夏藤、秋叶、冬梅，各应其时，合而观之，一年景物尽在其中，寓四季平安、岁岁祥和。
