五福临门Five Blessings at the Door

A small painting on card. A gourd vine hangs from the top, its leaves dabbed in dark and pale ink, large and small, in clear tones. Five gourds hang among them: two at the top in pale yellow and green, three below in full orange-red, washed in without outline so they look round and glossy. The tendrils, in fine lines of dark ink, curl and spring about freely. On the trellis at the top perch three sparrows, standing or crouching and glancing at one another, and a few small yellow flowers brighten the leaves.

The title on the right reads “Five Blessings at the Door”: the gourd, hulu, sounds like fulu, good fortune and rank, and five gourds make the five blessings, a wish for happiness and long life for the whole household.

此为卡纸小品。藤蔓自上而下垂挂，叶以浓淡墨点染，大小相间，墨色层次分明；葫芦五枚悬于藤间，上方两枚淡黄青绿，下方三枚橙红饱满，以没骨法渲染，圆润有光。卷须以浓墨细线写出，盘旋飞舞，灵动自然。画顶藤架上麻雀三只，或立或伏，相互顾盼，为画面添几分生趣。藤间又点缀几朵小黄花，明快可喜。

右侧题“五福临门”。葫芦谐“福禄”，五枚葫芦即“五福”，寓福寿安康、吉祥满门。
