郁金香Tulips

A fabric picture in the round format: a white circle of paper set into a square of cream card, filled with a clump of tulips. Seven blooms in pink, yellow, scarlet, coral and purple rise on straight stems. Every petal is cut separately, lightly padded and laid over its neighbors, so each flower sits cupped and not yet open, the cloth dyed from deep to pale as if catching the light. The long leaves, in several greens, lean and cross as they climb, and at the bottom their tips spill over the edge of the circle, which keeps the picture from feeling boxed in. An oval seal is stamped at the upper right and a square one at the lower left.

The tulip came from abroad and is not a traditional subject of Chinese painting; here it is chosen for its clear color and upright form. The picture has no title; this one describes it.

此为布艺贴画，作圆光式：米黄卡纸中嵌白色圆形纸地，郁金香一丛植于其间。花凡七朵，粉、黄、朱、橙、紫诸色并陈，每瓣单独裁剪，内衬薄棉，层层相掩，花形饱满，含而未放；布色经染，由深渐浅，娇艳而不浮。花茎挺直，长叶以深浅不一之绿布剪成，或俯或仰，交错而上，下部叶尖溢出圆外，章法因此活泼不拘。右上钤椭圆闲章，左下钤方印。

郁金香原产域外，非传统画题，画家取其色丽形端，以布写之，别开一境。此作未题画名，题目依画意拟定。
