Painted Basin: Chrysanthemums and a Bird

A painted object. The vessel is a white oval basin; the picture is painted on its floor, and the plain rim frames it like a natural oval mount. On it stands a garden rock washed in pale ochre, a small bird with a rust breast and brown back perched on top and looking back; below it a few red chrysanthemums with fine, dense petals dabbed in rouge among ink leaves, full of autumn.

The basin has no title; this one describes the picture. The chrysanthemum stands for integrity and long life.
