秋菊雁来红Chrysanthemums and Amaranth (fan)

A folding fan. At the centre several golden chrysanthemums, their long thin petals outlined in ink and filled with gamboge, large and small, among dense leaves of green and ink. On the right a plant of amaranth, yanlaihong, “red when the wild geese come”, flares in orange-red leaves curling layer upon layer, answering the yellow flowers in a blaze of autumn colour. Several lines of running script and a seal are at the left.

The fan carries no separate title; this one describes the picture, and the lines at the left are still to be read. Golden chrysanthemum and red amaranth are both the colours of autumn.

此为折扇扇面。中部金黄菊花数朵，花瓣细长，墨线勾勒，藤黄填色，大小错落；菊叶以青绿与墨色写出，丛生茂密。右侧雁来红一株，叶片橙红如焰，层层翻卷，与黄菊相映，秋色斑斓。左侧以行书题字数行，钤印于后。

此扇未单独题画名，题目依画意拟定；左侧题字尚待辨读。黄菊与雁来红皆为秋日之色，写秋光明丽。
