蔬果Vegetables (fan)

A folding fan of vegetables. On the right four radishes are painted in rouge without outline, round and full with fresh green tops; at the centre a cabbage is brushed in pale, clear ink; beside it a few mushrooms in ochre and ink with mottled caps, and two or three red chillies bright among them. Several lines of running script and a seal are at the left.

The fan carries no separate title; this one describes the picture, and the lines at the left are still to be read. Plain vegetables in a painting carry the old taste for the simple life, the “fragrance of vegetable roots”.

此为折扇扇面，写蔬果。右半萝卜四枚，以胭脂没骨写出，圆润饱满，缨叶青翠；中部白菜一棵，以淡墨写叶，墨色清润；其旁蘑菇数朵，以赭墨写成，菌盖斑驳；红辣椒两三只点缀其间，鲜红夺目。左侧行书题字数行，钤印于后。

此扇未单独题画名，题目依画意拟定；题字尚待辨读。蔬果入画，清淡质朴，有“菜根香”之趣。
